With Giroux’s 1000th game in the rear view it is clear that a trade will be finalized within the coming days. We have now seen the first look of a Flyers team without the impact of Claude Giroux in the locker room or on the ice since 2008. Last night’s game against the Senators was a bit painful to watch as they sort of looked lost on the ice with no real guidance on the top line. Atkinson seemed to be all over the ice and looked to have taken pride in wearing an “A”, but we all know who the true leader of this team is and how important he is to this squad. Unfortunately though we must look ahead and try to determine what the right return for Giroux will be.
Colorado Avalanche:
A few weeks ago, if you asked me the front runner for a Giroux trade would have been the Av’s but now, I am not so certain. I now feel as though they are the runners up at this time as they have already traded two of the larger pieces that would have been a part of this trade away for other pieces in what the Av’s believe to be a champion ship caliber team. So, what now would have to happen for the Flyers to agree to such a deal?

Now keep in mind the Av’s prior to today are unwilling to part with Byram and Newhook but after seeing what the Lightning gave up for Brandon Hagel who is at best a middle six forward, I would not be surprised to see the price for Giroux go up and go up a lot between now and tomorrow. This trade would require a salary dump of some sort but also a couple of players to be sent down but if the Av’s want “G” this is most definitely what it would take to get him.
Florida Panthers:
Over the last week or so the Panthers have arisen as the front runner in the Giroux sweepstakes. As the Panthers continue to roll as well as continue to have cap space to facilitate the easiest route to a trade, I would imagine that it’s all but a done deal at this point moving forward just waiting for the Panthers off day tomorrow. Here is the deal that I have seen in rumors and that I believe may be getting done with maybe a little extra that I may speculate with the possible increase in value for Giroux.

This ideally would be the best trade out of the two as we would get two young players one who was a first round pick last year and then Tippett who is a prior first round pick as well and honestly on any other team would be playing in the NHL already. Now this is all speculation, and I am no insider, but Tippett is not traveling with the AHL affiliate at this time due to possible trades the same way that Giroux is being held out of the line up right now.
I hope you enjoyed reading if you have any comments concerns or ideas for me to write about please leave them as it is very hard to find fun things to write about when it comes to covering a bad hockey team. As always please like share and subscribe.

Very good insight, hard to believe it’s the end of another cupless Era, hopefully we get hood return for “G” and I wish him luck as he deserves it, but Flyers really need to get this right and get a good return.
