Who would’ve thought that these Flyers who had a whole regime change behind the bench and front office change in the last year that we’d be where we are today. Who would’ve thought that the this team, the team that was written off after their dismal December that this team would be No.1 in the east. The same team that had their hearts ripped out with Oskar Lindblom’s Ewing Sarcoma diagnosis would be still here and still fighting.

From when I left for deployment and until I got back recently the Flyers had turned into the hottest team in hockey. In which they went 9-1-0 against the upper echelon of teams in the NHL. To the dreadful pause from COVID-19. To convincing wins over the other top teams in the Eastern Conference with combined score of 11-3 against the likes of Boston, Washington and now Tampa Bay. Not to mention Oskar’s ringing of the bell in July and now to him being on the Playoff roster.

What is the cause of this dominance? Simple it’s veteran leadership mixed with an abundance of youth that has also offered an extreme amount of depth. Some are arguing if this team is better then the 2010 Stanley cup final team. I think they are this 2020 team has more depth across the board. More defenders who can slot in and provide fresh legs. Fresh young forwards who can step in and play any role from Farabee slotting in to the top line to Carsen Twarynski being able to play in the bottom six. Below is the full 31 player roster.

Flyers were 2-1-0 against the Canadiens who are their round 1 opponents. The Flyers have two Ex-Habs coaches in AV and Therrien. The last time the Flyers played the Canadiens in the playoffs the Flyers went all the way to finals in 2010.

This is going to be a long and winding ride to the Finals but at least The Flyers are the one seed and should have the easier rout there.
