Last night was a bit of a roller coaster ride with Wayne Simmonds scoring his first goal of the season against his former team and an amazing shoot out finale.

As previously stated Simmonds would score a goal and it would be the first of the game while the Devils were on the power play. Four minutes later the Flyers would tie it up with a goal by Lindblom, who is as hot as anyone as of late. Later on Matt Niskanen would lay a heavy but clean hit on rookie Jack Hughes. Palmieri didn’t like it, as Hughes would look hurt and would instigate a fight with Niskanen who would just over power Palmieri to the ice. Both would get 5 minute majors, Palmieri would also get a 10 minute misconduct and a 2 minute instigator penalty. That would close out the period.

To start the period the game continued to be very competitive but no one would hold an advantage until Couturier scored with the helper from Lindblom. The lead wouldn’t last long because of another power play goal by the Devils coming from Vatanen. This time the period would go on to end with no fireworks.

Almost half of the third period went by before the Devils took the lead. Lead taken by a very confusing goal by Taylor Hall, just as Justin Braun tripped and slid into Hall knocking him down and into Hart, thus allowing his shot to get passed Hart. About a minute and a half would go by before Joel Farabee would finally get his first NHL goal and tie things back up at 3 a piece.

Over time was exciting lots of chances and shots but no goals. During the shoot out Voracek would go first and fail to get a score with what looked like a very lazy shot in my opinion. Palmieri would then shoot and miss, as well as Giroux and Hughes. Directly following, Couturier would pull the olé Peter Forsberg deke and one handedly guide the puck in to the net around Blackwood’s back. Taylor Hall would then get shut down by none other then Carter Hart.

Now For Tonight

Flyers are playing on a back to back, I suspect that the starter would be Elliot as Hart started last night. The Maple Leafs come into the Wells Fargo Center playing about as well as the Flyers have lately, at 6-5-3 but have been without John Tavares who is out with a broken finger. I would believe tonight will be a very fast paced and competitive game and I have faith the Flyers will pull this back to back out with a score of 3-1 with some really solid defensive play tonight.
