1st Period
What seemed like an easy game to at least earn a point turned into a very disappointing 4-1 loss to a desperate Dallas team at home. Although the Flyers came out strong in the first period scoring their lone goal coming from Coots in the first 43 seconds of the game, Dallas managed to strik back 6:00 minutes later with a goal from Hintz. Shortly after Travis Sanhiem would get called for tripping and Dallas would then score on the Power Play with a goal by Lindell. Directly following the that goal at the face off Chris Stewart dropped the gloves with Jamie Oleksiak in what seemed to be a stand off till Stewy got his left arm free and started swinging for the fences and busting up Oleksiak pretty good cutting his nose forcing him to be seen by the trainer. Momentum would turn and the Flyers started getting chance after chance firing on all cylinders but couldn’t get anything past Ben Bishop.
2nd Period
To start the period the Flyers started off strong but still no goals. Early in the second there was a missed tripping call on Dallas that would have put the Flyers on a power play but instead turned into an odd man rush but good defense and goaltending stopped the chance from turning into anything else. Throughout the entirety of the period the Flyers had good defense transitioning to solid offense with consistently good chances. The flyers would only give up one shot in the period while accumulating 13 shots on net
3rd Period
Once again the Flyers came out strong getting tons of shots on goal and Ben Bishop just stood on his head making all the stops. Corey Perry would get quick goal though and extend the lead to 3-1. The Flyers were pushing hard on offense but still nothing. Carter Hart would leave the net in a last ditch effort to score and bring the game to only a one goal game but it wasn’t meant to be as Heiskanen would score on the empty net pushing the lead to 4-1.
A Look Ahead
The flyers next game is tomorrow night as they get ready to play the Vegas Golden Knights at home in what has turned to a must win to right the ship for the Flyers. Stay tuned for a preview post with some more bold predictions.
